2nd Thurso Scout Group football team that won the Courier Cup in 1968
From Alan Macpherson 21 May 2002
As a possible extension to your school pictures attached is a copy of the 2nd Thurso Scout Group football team that won the Courier Cup in 1968 - the first year the cup was contested. We beat Castletown and Lybster on our way to the cup final which was against Thurso Boys Brigade and played at Viewfirth in November 1968. The Photograph was taken in the Scout Hall in Davidsons Lane Thurso on 06 December 1968. The game resulted in a 3 - 2 victory for us. The goal scorers that day were Harvey Cowe, Gordon Topping (a spectacular header) and I was lucky enough to score the winning goal a few minutes before the end of the game. I do not remember the names of the scorers for Thurso BB
2nd Thurso Scouts - 1968
1968
1968 was a significant year in the history of 2nd Thurso Scouts. It was Scout Leader Clive Campbell's first complete year in charge and, with his more than able Assistant Scout Leader Rowland Shallcross, completely transformed the scout troop into one of the best in Scotland.
