In previous years the last night of Beavers before the summer break has always been a beach party at Reiss. This year it was decided that the whole of the Scout group would attend. So on Monday the 26th of June over 50 members and their parents arrived at the beach to take part in several activities, a bbq and a camp fire, followed by a massive water fight. "The party was great. I really liked the fire and water fight,” said one Cub. Special thanks were given to Emma Message for organising the activities and Alistair Richards (GSL) presented Emma her provisional warrant. We hope to be back at the beach again next year. |

On the 5th June Wick Scout Group held its AGM. This year several rounds of a Beetle Drive preceded the meeting, with prizes for the winners, and a group Raffle. The night was also used to present Alistair Richards with a pair of walking sticks and specially engraved bottle of whisky after his resignation as Cub leader. Later on in the meeting Alistair was also presented with his ten years of service award and asked to become the GSL, which he accepted. During the AGM a new chairperson and three parent committee members were appointed. The evening was productive and enjoyable. |

In September over twenty Cubs camped at Olrig Campsite. The theme for the weekend was Harry Potter with the Cubs being split into groups such as Ravenclaw and Gryfindor. For most of the Cubs this was there first ever experience of camping and all enjoyed it despite the amount of rain we had. This was also the first camp the Beaver leader Elaine had run and organised after attending a night’s away course, designed to help leaders provide quality camping experiences for youngsters. One of the highlights of the weekend was the campfire where several songs were sung and most people took part in the skits. The Cubs are hoping for a camp next year. |
