A very scary night of passing heads, eating worms and looking for eyeballs took place at the Second Thurso Scout Hut on Tuesday 31st Oct 2006 when 20 Beaver Scouts dressed for their party. Instead of "ducking" for apples, forks were used to "dive" into the skins at a great height. Not only did this challenge the Beavers accuracy but it kept their faces smudge free from facepaint dribble! Whilst eating apples the Beavers "enjoyed" a true ghost story about the phantom fish of Thurso River. The night finished with the Beavers dressed as turtles, monsters, witches, space cowboys and vampires, ( to name but a few) dancing the conga and doing some very strange actions( and that was just the leaders!) |

An arresting site was seen in Thurso Police Station on 3rd October 2006 when 2nd Thurso Beavers invaded the premises. All "enjoyed" being locked up in a cell, finger printed, sitting in poloice van and photographed. One leader was especially lucky to be handcuffed. A great time was had by all and a big thank you to Thurso Police. |

Dunnet Bay Cubs visited Castletown Army Cadets for the evening to find out what the Cadets do. First the Cadets demonstrated Drill in the cadet hut and then the Cubs had a turn. After a drink and a taste of some rations packs, they all marched down to Harland where the Cubs were shown how to camouflage themselves and then sent to hide. Some were very good and had to be called to reveal where they were. |

Thanks to Andrew Manson Welding making new ones, some stakes have been left in-situ for abseiling at the cliffs at Forss. 1st Thurso Scouts were first to make use of them with the help of Jim Sudd: "We went abseiling on the cliffs at Forss. First time it was a bit scary at the top, very scary going down and great feeling when you get to the bottom. When asked how he was enjoying it, Jamie said "Aaaaah!", but he was only half way down his first time." |

The 30th Scottish International Patrol Jamborette was held at Blair Castle, Blair Atholl, Perthshire, Scotland. The Jamborette is held every two years in the grounds of the castle. Blair Atholl sees a Scottish and International patrol come together, camp and take part in adventurous activities. The Scottish scouts then offer a period of home hospitality for their foreign friends at the end of the camp, forming life long friendships.
As in previous years two patrols of six attended from Caithness. The area also supplied three leaders who attended as staff and helped in the running of the camp.
